Sifu is a beat 'em up video game developed and published by French studio Sloclap. Set in modern-day China, players control the child of a martial arts school's sifu (master) who seeks revenge on those responsible for their father's death. With a unique combat system inspired by Bak Mei kung fu, over 150 unique attacks and the ability to take advantage of the environment for tactical opportunities, Sifu is an action-packed game that will keep you hooked.
The game has two endings depending on your actions. If you choose to spare all of your enemies, then your fight with Yang continues into the graveyard in the real world and you attain enlightenment. On the other hand, if you choose to kill any of them, then you will be sent back in time and forced to re-enact your fights in an endless loop. Every time the protagonist dies, they are resurrected by a magical talisman and age up, gaining access to more powerful attacks but reducing their health. When the player character becomes too old, they can die permanently, in which case players must restart the level from the beginning and from the same age as their initial attempt.
Sifu is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows and Nintendo Switch platforms with plans for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S releases. It received generally positive reviews with praise for its combat system, environments and story and sold more than 1 million units within one month of release. Players can also visit ‘wuguan’ - a kung fu school - to practice their skills between levels or visit shrines to heal themselves or unlock new skills.
Overall Sifu is an intense martial arts game with an immersive story filled with revenge and redemption that will keep you entertained for hours on end!

- Defeat bosses: Every few levels there will be a boss fight which requires a different strategy than regular enemy fights. Pay attention to their attack patterns so you can avoid their attacks while still doing damage to them with your own moves
- Complete levels without dying: If you die during a level, you'll have to restart from the beginning with your original age but with less health than before due to aging up every time you die, so try not to die too often!
- Collect information across multiple runs: With each run, information about certain areas and enemies is collected which unlocks shortcuts, secret areas, and more powerful abilities in future runs if used correctly.
- Make choices that affect the story: Throughout Sifu there are dialogue options that will affect how some situations play out, allowing players to potentially avoid combat altogether depending on their choices of words or expressions.
- Enjoy the game: Above all else, don’t forget to have fun with the game and take in the beautiful environments and story as you progress through the levels!
